Hi, my name is Sierra Miller. My grandparents (the Stacy family) recently lost their home due to the catastrophic natural disaster of the Appalachian floods in eastern Kentucky that occurred on July 27-28, 2022. The picture displayed shows the extensive flooding their town received; we do not have a photo of their house at this time, as a photograph was a minuscule after-thought. My grandparents and cousin were fortunate enough to get out of the house just in time before the flood waters entered the home, quickly overtaking it, submerging the entire home under water. My grandparents slept in their vehicle on higher grounds for two night before my uncle, thankfully, was able to make his way to them through disastrous conditions due to damaged roads and mud slides. Unfortunately, like many other families who own mobile homes, they did not have flood insurance. Although their home and belongings are unsalvageable, we are extremely grateful that they are still with us today - a reality we weren’t aware of 36 hours ago. Any money raised will assist my grandparents and family with providing needs such as food, clothing, medication, and a future home. My mother and I are located in Ohio, therefore the funds will be provided directly to my uncle/grandparents. Feel free to donate if you can. Ultimately we ask for prayers and positive thoughts as we work to recreate a home for my family.
