The Spirit of Stepping up to the Plate

I have known Amanda Winters for fifteen years now. What resonated with me most in my journey to knowing Amanda is her spirit of stepping up to the plate when people need her the most. I remember Amanda telling me that her spirit of stepping up to the plate began at a very young age. At the age of 12 or so, Amanda had to step up to the plate and take care of her parents, her sister, and pay bills. Amanda had to put herself aside to ensure that everyone else was taken care of. That has always inspired me because it takes an extraordinary person to be so selfless at that age caring for others. Amanda stepped up to the plate spirit continued as she certainly stepped up to the plate when I needed her. I only had one vehicle a while ago, and Amanda would pick me up and take me home from work for almost five years. Without her stepping up to the plate, I would not have a job today. I am forever grateful for Amanda’s stepping up to the plate spirit!

The call for Amanda to step up to the plate has happened again recently. Unfortunately, not too long ago, her mother, Tammy McCrary, who many know as a warrior because she has fought and battled with medical issues her entire life Tammy recently came down with a bad infection within her feeding tube. Tammy's warrior spirit and battle have continued and she has been in the hospital since. There were no surgeries that would help with Tammy’s condition to give her a better quality of life, and presently doctors do not know how much longer Tammy has. Unfortunately, Amanda is carrying this burden on her own, with little help. The last thing I want is for Amanda to have to worry about the financial burden once her mom does pass this world. No one prepares for the day we will pass this world, so Amanda’s mom did not plan for this, and there will be nothing that will cover the expenses of Tammy’s passing.

 

Therefore, please consider having the spirit of stepping up to the plate by helping Amanda with her financial burden so that Amanda can continue to focus on what is most important in times like this. Please allow Amanda the opportunity to continue to show love to her mom while she still has time to do so without worrying about any expenses.
