Hello. I'm Chicago playwright Doug DuBrin. Along with New Yorkers Alison Zhang and Anthony Logan Cole, I'm also a partner in Painted Pistachio Productions, a small, vibrant, aspirational theater ensemble.
In collaboration with FAMA Theatre Group NY, we have been accepted for a full production of my original full-length play, "The Spinnerets"; it will run for eight performances at the Hellenic Cultural Center in Astoria, Queens: 1/29, 1/30, 1/31, 2/1, 2/5, 2/6, 2/7, 2/8.
To note, "The Spinnerets" has already had three formal staged readings (including at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild this past August and at Hellenic in early September) and two slated in October for Brooklyn's Tiny Cupboard Comedy Club; the readings have greatly fortified our belief in both the immense aesthetic value and fiscal viability of the play.
The production itself will be innovatively immersive, intellectually provocative, and wildly entertaining, yet to realize our vision, we must raise funds for our production costs (Hellenic provides the space, tech, and some marketing), including ensemble-member stipends, set-design expenses, props, costumes, transportation between Chicago and New York, and expansive marketing.
Therefore, Painted Pistachio Productions supremely appreciates any financial assistance you provide to help our venture and to support a vital art form: live theater.
