THE SPACES IN BETWEEN - A Short Film

After a year of writing, rewriting and editing, my script, The Spaces In Between is ready for production. Alongside a talented crew and dynamic cast-mainly made up of young Black boys-I am excited to shoot this short on May 20th!

The Spaces In Between is a live-action narrative that follows our main character “Black Boy” throughout his day and around his neighborhood. From his POV we see the love, laughter, support and pride of Black folk. Think soul music and Saturday house cleaning. Think 80’s Saturday morning cartoons and long bike rides. Think the fullness of childhood.

In January 2023, I was accepted into the 5 Shorts Project founded by Shameka Sawyer. In addition to mentorship and technical support, 5 Shorts also provides $1000 towards our production. That amount was quickly spent in pre-production. To complete this film through production and post we will need an additional $3000. All financial support will go towards meals and snacks for cast + crew; editing and coloring in post; additional equipment; honorariums for some cast and lastly, fees and insurance.
