For many many years this cookbook has been a project on my back burner. As a busy instructor working hard to make a living for my family, I could never afford the necessary time it takes to sit down and write it.
The financial crisis brought about by Covid-19 has left me with time on my hands and the need to reinvent myself. What better moment to finally sit down and write my cookbook? It's a no-brainer. In a normal situation I would be able to self-fund this project, but the effects of the crisis will be strongly felt in our household throughout 2020. I know we will come back strong, but in the time being, I would love to write this book, I am ready!
This book will be written in English and filled with a selection of the Spanish regional recipes I have been teaching at culinary schools around the world over the past decade.
Living as a foreigner in Spain for over 20 years I have come to love and appreciate its food culture. I believe food is the best possible gateway into a culture, and never more so than now, when travel to faraway places can only happen from our homes. Food in Spain is always a reason to gather around the table in appreciation, company, celebration. That's what Sobremesa is all about. In lockdown it's hard to gather, but let us gather virtually through my recipes. And then, when this is over, we can celebrate together.
I have been working with foreign travelers to Spain for many years and think this cookbook would be welcomed by many of them.
The funds I am raising will be used as follows:
4000€ for photos, videos, formatting and layout and design assistance
2000€ for printing and production costs
The book will be self-published, both digital and printed on demand.
