The Smith Family - Aaliyah
Donation protected
Fourteen year old Aaliyah Smith, daughter of Travis and Amber Smith of Cando, ND, woke up on the morning of October 17th with a headache that very quickly progressed into no visibility.
CT scan confirmed a brain bleed. She was flown to Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo ND. Aaliyah was diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture. She had an invasive surgery for her brain bleed. The swelling of her brain shifted to 7mm, resulting in a craniotomy to remove part of her skull. Aaliyah will need another surgery within 6 months to put back her skull. Until then she will need to wear a helmet to protect her brain.
Once she is discharged from Sanford Children's Hospital, Aaliyah will need intensive inpatient rehabilitation due to the AVM rupture causing a stroke.
Aaliyah has a long road to recovery. Any donations received will go towards hotel stays, medical bills, and travel expenses to get Aaliyah to and from ongoing therapy and doctor appointments.
You can also call Bravera Bank in Cando to donate to "Aaliyah Smith Benefit Account."
Please keep Aaliyah and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
