The Smear Campaign: End Sewage Pollution Now

Hi my name is Humphrey, founder of the creative industry campaign group COPI .

After years of ongoing govt inaction on what has now become a toxic problem we all share - the regular dumping of raw sewage in our rivers, lakes and seas, we are launching The Smear Campaign.

We have created a graphic and hard hitting 'faecal-font'. A type face made of raw sewage: poo, wipes, used tampons and old condoms, the kind of stuff you'd find if you went rowing on the Thames on a normal day, or in fact most rivers in the UK, as nearly all our rivers are being polluted to the point that ecosystems are dying, they are completely unsuitable for habitats to thrive and indeed unsafe for people to swim.

Regulation and legislation is not working and after years of inaction effectively allowing the water companies to pay out huge salaries and shareholder dividends rather than invest in better infrastructure, our Government is at the heart of this catastrophic failure.

So we want to send them a very loud and clear message this year: We have had enough. We want action now: new legislation and better regulation to force the water companies (the polluters) to do whatever it takes to stop this environmental vandalism. This is well within the power of govt, and anyone who tells you that government can't do anything to stop them from polluting, is probably a water company lobbyist.

How can you help us and our campaign?

We need to run our ads all over London, and in other pollution hotspots in the UK to shout as loudly at our politicians as possible and really raise public awareness of what is happening, ramping up the pressure this year especially.

All the money we raise on this page will buy more billboards, more digital street ads, more projections onto parliament or other high profile buildings, and if we raise enough we might even be able to run our ads in our politicians' favourite newspapers or on billboards in their home towns.
