The Sleepover - Short Film

Our Story
When a group of college girls, estranged and haunted by their past, reunite at a remote cabin for a birthday party, the celebration takes a violent nosedive in this heart-pounding psychedelic slasher.

A year ago, this group of girls played a part in their friend Alice’s drunk driving death at a college party. In The Sleepover, they reconvene as a friend group for the first time since, on the death anniversary, to celebrate their friend Claire’s birthday party.

Tensions between the girls run high as a sinister presence looms over an awkward reunion. With every passing hour into the night, the girls are pitted against each other in ways they could have never imagined. No service, no car keys, and a vengeance that turns this party into a plot. One by one the girls are taken out as they try to uncover the killer. Will they survive or will they meet their demise?

Why are we Fundraising?
As a group of recent college grads our passion for filmmaking is immense, however, we cannot cover the funds of this project out of pocket. We need your help to make this film happen! Just to put it in perspective a $25 donation will help us feed one crew member a day. Now we mix equipment rentals, locations, and cast into the mix and funds quickly start adding up. With your generosity our script will turn into the best film that we can make. Every donation helps and is greatly appreciated. But that's not all, we've come up with a few ways to give back to you!

Christina is so excited to have had the opportunity to write a campy, absurd, psychedelic slasher with one of her best friends, Valeria. Outside of The Sleepover, Christina has a film that she wrote, directed, and co-produced, titled Homecoming, which is now in post-production.

Director's Statement
I’ve always had a fascination with horror films. The campiness, the over-the-top dramatics of a serial killer, the lack of a fairytale ending, that all attracted me from a young age. Most queer people have a darkness they carry from their past, being able to escape into a world of thrilling emotions experienced by someone else makes you forget about your own.

Having a background in cinematography, I knew that the visuals for The Sleepover were going to be my top priority. Inspired by Heathers, Scream Queens, Climax, Scream and Suspiria, I decided to create my own story bursting with color, amazing outfits and iconic deaths. I’m going to create a cult-classic escapist comfort film, and with your help, it will be the best campy psychedelic slasher the world has ever known.

The Future of the Film
Right now we are working on crewing up and will soon begin the casting process to find the perfect fit for our characters. We plan on shooting The Sleepover in February 2024. Once wrapped on principal photography we will move into post-production, where everything will be edited together, color-graded, and music and sound will be added. We will finally be able to see and share how our film has come to life!

Who knows, maybe one day you’ll see The Sleepover, a feature length presentation on a big screen near you!
