The "Skinny Sticks" Young Drummer Scholarship Fund
Donation protected
Tim "Skinny Sticks" Scott was a lifelong local Rockford drummer and friend to many. His tremendous musical talent and charisma beaconed like a light in every space he occupied. His recent passing is a great loss to both the musical community and the many loved ones he leaves behind.
Skinny spent his whole life playing not only the drums, but every table top he sat at and any side of a drinking glass, vase, etc he could get his hands on. He was a percussionist through and through. He could tell you every drum kit he ever owned, where it came from, and the songs he played on it. If there wasn't a drum nearby, he could make music anywhere, on anything. It was a life's passion that his family knew must be passed on to other young, budding drummers through the gift of a scholarship.
The "Skinny Sticks" Young Drummer Scholarship Fund will provide full tuition costs for young musicians exploring their own interests in the drums at the youth camps of The Rock and Roll Institute. The scholarship is intended to provide financial opportunity for a young drummer to develop a confidence in themselves, and a curiosity about their creative expression through drum playing.
Skinny was gifted musically, but even more so in his ability to make others feel special and loved. We believe these scholarships will help his legacy of love, kindness, and talent live on through the experiences of young drummers, who will never have the great fortune of meeting him or watching him on stage.
In lieu of flowers at his service, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to his memorial scholarship fund, share your personal remembrances of him, or hug a loved one in his honor. All three are accepted and encouraged forms of honoring someone so special to us.
