"The Six Yogas of Naropa" Book Publishing Fundraiser

Since early 2024 I have been writing an in-depth commentary on the Six Yogas of Naropa.

This book is an authentic presentation of the Six Yogas of Naropa based on the oral transmissions I received from my teachers, in particular Lama Glenn Mullin. It also contains wisdom and knowledge of profound commentaries from great Gelug masters like Lama Thsonkhapa and Ngulchu Dharmabhadra. While this book here primarily follows the teachings on the Six Yogas of Naropa as taught in the Gelug school, it also contains teachings and insights from the Kagyu schools, like for example instructions from Tenga Rinpoche and others.

Many of the historical commentaries were quite skeletal and often even regarded as outlines for Lamas who give these teachings, rather than commentaries for the practitioners doing these practices. This book here is different. While still following the original and authentic teachings of this practice lineage, it does give more detailed instructions and guidance than earlier commentaries on the matter, which previously could only be received through oral instructions.

This book is written in three parts. The first part is on the preliminaries for the Six Yogas and it is written in a way that it also gives those who have little to no knowledge about this tradition a foundation of tantric buddhism and its liberating and enlightening wisdom. The second part is the main body of the book and it is a detailed and in-depth commentary on the practices of the Six Yogas of Naropa and the third part contains a variety of practice manuals.

I am particularly delighted to include the teachings of the Illusory Body of Highest Yoga Tantra in this commentary, as most Six Yogas lineages only discuss the Illusory Body in the context of "appearing phenomena" rather than in the context of the "subtle body" as it is taught in all the Highest Yoga Tantras. Since Lama Thsonkhapa himself questioned in his treatise on the Six Yogas why so many lineages don't discuss the Illusory Body of Highest Yoga Tantra as part of Naro's teachings I am really happy to have those included in the upcoming book.

The writing of the book is already completed and it is currently being edited by a professional editor who has an extensive background as Vajrayana practicioner.

The book is scheduled for publication in the autumn of this year and it will be self-published. It will be available via Amazon as well as via bookshops.

Self-publishing means that all costs have to be carried by the author/ publisher and while the writing is already done and the books ISBN has been sorted, in order to pay the editor as well as the final artwork for the book I will need 5,500 € in total.
