Save The Six Six – Help Keep Cambridge’s Grassroots Music Venue Alive

The Six Six has always been more than just a bar.

It’s where bands play their first shows.

Where strangers become friends on the dancefloor.

Where Cambridge’s alternative music scene has a home.

Over the past few years we’ve worked relentlessly to build something special here hosting hundreds of events, supporting hundreds of bands, and creating a community around live music that we’re incredibly proud of.

Recently the venue underwent a refurbishment, giving The Six Six a stronger foundation than ever before and helping us push the venue into its next chapter.

But the reality of running an independent grassroots venue in 2026 is tougher than ever.

Costs across the board have risen dramatically.

PRS/PPL fees alone now sit close to £4,000 per year, while energy, water, council costs and essential running expenses continue to climb.

With rent, staff, stock and operating costs combined, it now takes around £8,000+ a week just to keep the doors open.

Like many grassroots venues across the UK, we’re feeling that pressure.

The refurbishment has given us the platform to grow but right now we need a little help stabilising things so we can fully build on that momentum.

This fundraiser will help relieve some of the financial pressure that’s built up and ensure The Six Six can continue doing what it exists to do:

Supporting live music.

Championing grassroots artists.

Giving Cambridge a home for alternative culture.

Alongside this fundraiser, we’ll also be hosting special fundraising shows and community events, bringing together bands and artists from across the scene who want to help keep grassroots music alive.
