Friends, if you've ever loved an animal so much that they become true family, imagine this: Your pampered, inside-only fur baby being lost outdoors for 7 weeks. During that time, the most frigid temperatures and worst weather of the year blows in. No sign of your baby.
Finally, on Christmas Day, a sighting is reported, and when you rush to sweep them up for the reunion you've dreamed about, you find them lifeless and stiff to the touch with no immediate signs of life. Picking them up, you hear a faint cry. You try to warm them and rush to the vet, doing chest compressions while you plead, "Please stay with me, baby."
The emergency vet gives a 50% chance of survival. A warming blanket, a feeding tube, x-rays, specialists, a slow response, blood transfusion, and maybe signs of permanent damage – but also hope. Finally, she purrs. She licks food from your finger. She's still in there. She wants to come home.
This has been the reality of sweet Sissy. And now her parents, once heartbroken, are now hopeful but find themselves overwhelmed with the costs of the emergency vet bills, averaging more than $1k a day – and she's still there and may need surgery.
To some, this is "just a cat" – but if you know, you know. Sissy is family. Her parents have decided she's come too far to give up on her. While a financial hardship for just about anybody, they're willing to make the sacrifice. We're friends asking for help on their behalf.
This is for all the animal lovers out there. If you can relate to their plight and heartbreak at all, any little bit will help ease the burden. (And consider sharing this link )
As of 12/30, their balance exceeds $7k and climbing.
