Almost every mining town in Arizona has a historical society and a museum. Those towns do continue to exist today; however, we have no existing town. History may be eluding us. We believe a museum will be a very real place where history can be viewed and appreciated.
Our initial goal of $5,000 is seed money to get us started. We have been looking for old houses from Silver Bell. We've been told of the possibility of free space in the Town of Marana (though the offer has not materialized). We've considered renting space. And we have thought of beginning with a small building and expanding as time goes on.
The photo you see is a 12' x 12' building we have found at Home Depot. It would serve our purposes to begin with. The cost is under $5,000, and we would need to construct, insulate, and wire it for electricity. Of course, placing it is another matter. We are hopeful!
Several people have told us that once we have a museum, they will donate small and large artifacts which will be displayed in the museum. We already have many items and we know that there are many of you who also have items which would find a permanent home that will belong to all of the Silver Bell family and to the public.
Please consider contributing to this campaign. Small or large amounts are so appreciated!
