Hi, this is Corey's younger brother Jason writing on behalf of our family and Corey's children to appeal to all of you who know and love him to help out if you can. My family was the recipeint of a GoFundMe campaign a few years back and it saved us from a lot of financial uncertainty and stress during a medical crisis, so I know firsthand that the beauty of this platform is a lot of small donations from family, friends, and the community that add up to something greater.
To Corey's situation and why we are humbly asking for your help. In June, Corey went in for a routine checkup. His PSA levels were high, so he had a follow up with a urologist who suspected Corey had prostate cancer and recommended a biopsy. The biospy came back positive at the end of June. A couple weeks later, a pet scan revealed that the cancer had moved to his lymph nodes, which is indicitave of Stage 4 Metastatic prostate cancer. Corey visited specialists at KU Med and had a hard couple weeks debating between radiation, hormone therapy or surgey - not a fun prospect either way. He decided to go with surgery which will hopefully lessen the chances of having to go through hormone therapy, but if so, would drastically reduce the therpay timeline from 24 months to 6 months. In Corey's words: "It's all very confusing with lots of big scary words I don't understand."
His surgery is scheduled for September 28th and he anticipates being out of work for 6 weeks. FMLA is unpaid in Kansas. His employer, Michael's, has helped out a bit, but even with insurance, Corey anticipates facing significant medical bills, as he is out of work and attending to his recovery.
I feel optimistic that we can meet and exceed this goal with Corey's large network of friends and extended family. Our family was somewhat nomadic and I know Corey has freinds from our time in Nebraska (Sumner and Alliance), from his high school years in Lewiston, Idaho, and from his decades of living and working in Lawrence, Kansas. Corey is a familiar face in Lawrence having worked and managed Arizona Trading Co for several years and playing in the bands Steal Mary, Motherwell, T-Shirt, Mass St. Murder, and other shorter-lived projects. These days, Corey is running a Michael's frame shop and pursing his passion for photography in new and exciting ways.
Please help if you can.

Sunday, October 1, 2023 Update
First and foremost, THANK YOU. Every donation, share, and kind message has been appreciated and our family is truly humbled by the generosity from near and far.
Corey had surgery last week on Thursday (Sept. 28) and is back home resting after a couple days in the hospital. His surgeon reported that the surgery went well. We hope you will
continue to pray and send good thoughts his way as he recovers.
Again, thank you for all your kindness.
