My name is Diego SengSue Yang, and I am 18 years old. I was born in Clovis, CA, and grew up in Fresno, CA. I am the first generation son of immigrant parents from South East Asia. Since I was 5 years old, I have dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player. At the age of twelve, I began playing soccer at advanced levels. Currently, I play for Minnesota United MLS Academy. My success to this point is due to my persistence and developed talent.
My daily routine to make it this far has been rigorous and has included a tremendous amount of hard work, focus, and determination. Six of the seven days of my week include early morning and late evening training sessions mixed with routine gym visits and workouts of different kinds. I am proud of my hard work and know I will need to work even harder if I want to become a professional.
This summer, I will be attending “The Showcase Madrid 2022” in Spain to try out for five professional Spanish soccer teams between July 24th-30th. This is a culminating moment for me where I will have my chance to demonstrate my skills, abilities, and talents. This is where I will need to ask for support. No matter how hard I train, the financial portion of this is out of my reach. I am asking my friends, family, and anyone who can understand the financial ceiling I am facing, to please help me and donate. To be as transparent as I can be, I offer the below breakdown of my expenses. Also, the deadline for funding is June 1, 2022.
In summary, my goal is to be someone who can proudly represent the Hmong people as well as the United States. I want the Hmong people of the United States, and abroad, along with all disenfranchised talented athletes to see that if you work hard and devote yourself to your dream you can achieve it. There is no limit to what you can accomplish if you believe in yourself.
