UPDATE: Once improvements are completed, Claudia is moving The Shop into the old Black Forest building. My name is Eleanor Yeager, a recently relocated Nederland area local for 35+ years. On the morning of October 9, 2025, the entire south end of Caribou shopping center in Nederland, CO burned. It looks to be a total loss for the 20+ businesses that were there. One was THE SHOP owned by longtime local, Claudia Schauffler. Claudia's store was one of the hubs of the community, and welcomed people with a smile, a joke and a quality item to take home or gift to a friend. Although insurance will cover some, it never covers all of the losses and immediate needs of business owners.
