THE SHIFT, a short film by Brock Heasley (that's me) is a true labor of love made by so very many talented people in the Fresno, CA area for peanuts (literally--I could only afford to feed them!), but that looks like it cost a million bucks!
Now, it's time for the film to go out into the world. That means Film Festivals, where the Hollywood movers and shakers will get a look at it. Why do that? Well, first of all, this is art and art should be shared! But also... you'd be amazed at how many great films started out as short films (Napoleon Dynamite and the Oscar-winning Whiplash come to mind) and later got funding for a full feature. Film Festivals are where THE SHIFT could truly shine.
Every Film Festival is a business unto itself. On average, it costs about $50 to submit a film. With literally hundreds of Film Festivals out there to choose from, that's a cost that can add up fast!

As I type this, we're just coming off our first screening for cast, crew, family, and friends. The response, quite frankly, was overwhelmingly, honestly positive. This film is about a lot more than "guy meets the Devil." It's about the struggle we all have against the darkness and the way--what I believe is the only Way--to combat it. I think that's a message worth getting out into the world.
