On March 19, 2021, Shayla Murray, a recent West Liberty University Graduate from the College of Arts and Communication, was burned in an accidental fire while working on a project at home. Shayla was flown by helicopter ambulance to Pittsburgh where she is being treated for 2nd degree burns on 12% of her body. Shayla has undergone a series of painful skin grafts as well as hydrotherapy over the last 30 days, and doctors estimate she will need to stay in the hospital at least another month.
While the physical pain that Shayla endures is incredibly difficult, so is the financial burden that their family is facing. Both of Shayla's parents, Jill and Ken, work at the University and Jill has had to rent a small apartment near her child's hospital so she can provide care during the treatment. This is all on top of caring for their four other children. Friend's of the Murray's are asking for help to support this family as they work to through this recovery and mounting medical bills. Any amount helps - please help us get Shayla back on her feet and making art again!
If you can find it in your heart to help to defray these medical expenses, I know the entire Murray family will be appreciative.
If you're a friend of Shayla's and are hearing this for the first time, please reach out, she would love to hear from you!
