We are producing a short drama film that follows a young trans man named Alex. He's stuck living with his transphobic mother and spends his evenings watching a old 50's TV show obsessing over the main character. A leather jacket wearing rebel who, despite always going against his parents rules, still learns from his mistakes and always has the support of his family. But as the days slowly trudge on, the lines between the show and real life start to blur and Alex finds himself in a desperate struggle against the role he never auditioned for.

We wanted to create this film to bring more awareness about what life is like for trans people to live in such a hateful society, especially considering the current political climate around trans people. The film explores Alex's disconnection from not only himself but his mum and life in general. Many trans people don't have a safety net of people they can confide in and often have to continue living with transphobic family members due to work and financial constraints. Having to deal with this and constant gender dysphoria especially pre any medical intervention takes a huge strain on mental health and we wanted to represent these issues in our film.
