The Sensory Safe Place

I have currently made beyond my goal for fundraising for this project in both this GoFundMe and direct donations. This project is becoming a reality!

Hi! I am PJ Dix. I am a Boy Scout currently working on my Eagle Scout Project at Conyers Learning Academy (CLA) in Rolling Meadows, an Early Child Education school with a large population of students with special needs. I am a former preschool student from this school, and I want to give back.

This project requires an ambitious monetary collection goal in order for the project to be completed. I would greatly appreciate anything you would be willing to contribute! Please read more below to learn about my project.

What does my project entail?

 

A Music Wall: includes different repurposed “instruments” in which the students experience different sensory outputs through the noise they produce when struck.

A Sensory Path: includes individual squares with different textures in which the CLA students would walk barefoot on non-sharp or non-slippery textures in order to experience different sensory inputs.

How does it benefit the students?

This helps enrich the CLA students’ ability to learn and play and will go in their outdoor classroom, an area already benefiting the student body.
