The Senior Graduate Student in Need of Assistance

Hello, my name is Deborah C. Craig, a 72-year-old graduate student attending South University in Savannah, GA and living in Brunswick, GA. The last few months of my life have been extremely difficult. I am on a fixed income that does not always cover bills and educational expenses. I am on track to complete my Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling; however, certain circumstances have made it hard to do so. First, earlier in January of this year (2022), my older son passed due to complications of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Since then, and to this point, the nightmare has become worse. Second, on May 4th of this year I was defrauded of $4,500 as explained below.

 I received a call from a female who posed as someone working for Comcast/Xfinity stating that I had unused Internet services and that I needed an upgrade for the services and would receive a $500 credit. I allowed them to perform the computer upgrade. Subsequently, a male, also supposedly working for Comcast/Xfinity called and said that $5000 was credited by accident instead of $500. I was instructed to repay the difference with Target gift cards. 

 Later that evening, I checked my account to find that I had much less in my savings account --- about $4500 less. Soon after, I contacted the appropriate authorities. It is my hope that this GoFundMe® account will help towards paying utilities and other bills and to complete my graduate studies. I am trying to raise as much as I can of the $4500 lost from this scam. I want to complete my degree in order to help military veterans suffering with PTSD and other mental illness.  As an elderly college student trying to get back on her feet and complete her graduate studies; any donation is welcomed.
