# Campaign Update: The 8th Annual Sigmund Freud Film Festival & Challenge
For eight years, the Sigmund Freud Film Festival & Challenge has been a labor of love — a small independent film festival built around big ideas: memory, dreams, identity, repression, creativity, and the strange machinery of the human mind.
This year’s festival, **Screen Memories**, will take place on **Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 1:00 PM** at the NetPark Conference Center Auditorium in Tampa.
We are already receiving exciting submissions from filmmakers, including international works such as **A Country in a State of Numbness** by Iranian filmmaker Ali Sabokbar, along with new competitive entries created specifically for this year’s challenge.
We have also heard from **Paper Horse Pictures** about two recent short films, **The Liars of Black Mountain Road** and **Hell**. These projects include work connected to **Academy Award nominee Abigail Breslin**, **SAG Award-winning Modern Family actor Nolan Gould**, **student Emmy-winning animator Erika Totoro**, and sound artist **Ian Chase**, whose credits include work connected to **Everything Everywhere All at Once**.
That kind of interest is encouraging, and it reflects the larger direction of the festival: a small Tampa-based event with an increasingly international and professional creative reach.
Your past support has helped keep this festival moving forward. Contributions help cover venue expenses, filmmaker awards, promotional materials, website updates, and the many practical costs that come with producing an independent cultural event.
Even a $5 contribution — the price of a festival ticket — helps us continue building this international celebration of independent cinema, psychology, and imagination.
Thank you for helping support the Sigmund Freud Film Festival & Challenge.
