On Sunday, July 24th, Mark Scott suffered from a stroke. The family was just wrapping up spending a beautiful day at the beach when his symptoms hit suddenly. He was transported by ambulance to Scripps Encinitas where they were able to stabilize him and sedate him.
By Thursday morning, he had a hard time breathing and the doctor found that he had fluid in his lungs that would require him to be intubated. The fluid ended up being pneumonia. Once Mark recovers from the pneumonia and is weaned off the ventilator, the doctors will finally be able to assess the damage that the stroke caused.
The family has been with Darlene everyday to help maintain everything around the house, grocery shopping, calling insurance, paying bills and upkeep the home. Their son Wyatt has taken over returning all of Mark’s business calls. Mark’s business is the only income they have and the family is starting to realize that it’s going to be a long road to recovery before Mark can return to work.
This uncertainty is making Darlene worry about their financial future. As most of you know, Darlene had her bone marrow transplant 3 years ago which they are still paying for and continue to accrue more bills as Darlene is still receiving infusions to keep her own body healing. Not to mention what bills will flood in from the care Mark is receiving now.
We know Darlene would be able to rest easier if there is a way to provide some monetary security right now. If you are able to donate to her and Mark’s care, it would be greatly appreciated
The family is already so appreciative of the overwhelming amount of love and support and they completely understand that finances are hard for everyone right now.
