The Scott Benner Vehicle Fund

Today I am starting a go fund me page to help my childhood friend Scott. Scott is a 45 year old quadriplegic.  He's been paralyzed from the neck down since 1988 as a result of a diving accident when we were kids.  Despite the tragic accident Scott has been able to overcome most of the challenges he has faced.  He has lived independently, he has owned his own business and he's even turned his love of history into a master's degree from Madonna University.  His Next goal is to aquire a phD in history.
But just as he has been able to get many things accomplished over all these opsticles, life sure has a way to kick you when you think you got it.  Recently he has been hit with some financial difficulties and was foreclosed on his wheelchair accessible home.  Like most curve balls in life,  Scott has been able to overcome this one and now lives in Garden City with his lovely fiance Marilyn.   Unfortunately now he is having transportation issues.  Currently his 1999 wheelchair accessible van has succum to the salty Michigan Roads and has a 2 ft. wide hole where his chair sits.  Everyday he rides in this van he is putting himself in danger. After running into him after many years and seeing what he has been able to accomlish I thought it might be time for Scott to get a newer safer vehicle.

It's funny how life works because after running into him I just felt like it was meant for me to help him finally catch a break.  One of my very good friends (Raj) purchased a van for his father and sadly his dad passed shortly after due to brain cancer.  He purchased the van for 42,000 dollars with less then 20,000 miles on it.  They had put less than 300 miles on it when the unfortunate passing of his father occured.  Thinking this would be a good fit, after talking to Scott, I came to the realise that this was just way out of his price range.  Who is gonna help him???? Well after a couple restless nights thinking about it I woke up and said, Hopefully everyones gonna help him.  I went to my buddy Raj , told him what my plan was and that I wanted to figure a way to make this dream happen for a buddy that i've lost contact with over the years.  After talking to his family, out of the kindness of their heart, they have offered to sell the van for  $30,000 dollars to him.  Scott thought he would be able to get 5 to 10 thousand so I figured it was my duty to try and get him the  20 to 25 thousand. So I recruited 2 more of our childhhod friends Dean and Kevin and we're gonna do our best to make this a reality.  I know times are hard for some but if you can spare anything it would be greatly appreciated.  I'm not one to ask for hand outs but this is doing something good for your soul. Feel the immense joy of giving without a get back. So if you feel like this is something you want to be part of please donate and if you can't donate then  PLEASE SHARE. Every single dollar counts. There isn't to less of a amount to give.   Please help us help someone who we think needs to catch a break!!! EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS TO MAKE A DREAM COME TRUE! BE PART OF SOMETHING GREAT!!
