UPDATE: 2/20/24:
Caleb is still in the hospital and will have another catherization today. Please continue to PRAY, SHARE his story, and encourage others you may know to donate to this AMAZING family who has been through so much.
For those that don’t know Caleb has had 3 open heart surgeries and 4 stents placed. Caleb has not been feeling well since December. There are a ton of symptoms he has been experiencing and every day there seems to be more unexplained symptoms popping up or current ones getting worse. It has been making life very hard. He has been using oxygen at night, a wheelchair at school (because of fatigue and unexplained leg pain). He is unable to keep food down etc.
We saw his electrophysiologist in SA and started running labs, echo, EKG, and chest x-rays during final exams before Christmas break. We then spent our Christmas break in Corpus with his cardiologist trying to figure some things out. This all led us to heart catheterization on MLK Day in Corpus and a week of missed school for him.
We have been trying to get him into Texas Children’s for some of their specialty clinics. We have not made much progress since January with this. It’s Caleb’s senior year and his last season of UIL one-act play. He has been trying with all his might to keep up with school and theatre. It has been hard to watch him struggle and decline. So last night after three days of not keeping anything down Including his medicine, we decided to bring him to the TCH downtown ER. We were hopeful they would admit him and start getting nutrition in him as well as help get our foot in the door for the real help we needed.
They admitted him and already started the aggressive testing to help us figure out what is going on. They have been there for a week and are finally getting somewhere.
Candida had surgery at the end of last year and missed a few weeks of work, and now she is out of days after all of Caleb’s recent medical issues and does not qualify for FMLA, so they really need our help
Len and Candida have hearts of gold, and Caleb is an amazing young man who has already been through so much for someone so young! The money raised will go directly to their needs for gas, parking, groceries, medical bills, etc.
If you can donate I know they would greatly appreciate it!!!
