The Sari Forest: Support Our Creative Journey

Book Tickets Here Hello! I'm Komal Madar, a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of textiles, storytelling, and immersive technology. I'm currently developing this ambitious, heart-led project alongside my MA in Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University.

✨ The Sari Forest and A Hole New World is a two-part immersive installation and workshop programme that begins with a soft launch during the Independent Biennial in Liverpool (July 2025). I hope to raise £800 by July 15th 2025.

The project is rooted in community and connection. I’ve been collecting donated saris from across the UK, each one carrying stories of memory, identity, and care. These saris will form a fabric forest, a sensory installation that invites visitors to use their voice and movement as a form of therapeutic expression.

In addition, there is a programme that offers a series of workshops with trained facilitators. This includes a creative writing workshop, a language and speech therapy workshop, art workshops, a movement class, and the possibility for much more with your help. The workshops aim to build confidence, promote well-being, share stories, and form new relationships. The project focuses on social engagement and brings different communities together.

But that’s not all.

Alongside this, I'm co-creating A Hole New World, an experimental virtual reality experience that brings elements of the sari forest into the digital realm. Together, this explores how we experience memory, materials, and the body across both physical and virtual landscapes.

Why I'm Asking for Your Support (just a coffee’s worth)
If you’d like to help, just one coffee's worth (£3–£5) can make a difference.

Your donations will help cover:

Materials & equipment for workshops

Travel costs and fees for collaborators

Technical support for testing and developing the VR world

Printing, documentation, and installation costs

And the long-term plans to expand this project.

Even the smallest contribution brings us closer to making this dream a reality.

Whether you’re giving £3 or £30 – or simply sharing this page – thank you for supporting independent art that centres community, culture, and imagination.

Let’s stitch something magical together.
With love,
Komal x
