The Sara Venn Project
Donation protected
In 2014 Sara Venn came to Bristol and became part of the revolution of food justice in Bristol. She dedicated her life to making a difference and lit the way for a lot of people on their own horticultural journey. In this time she founded edible Bristol, creating edible places for the communities of Bristol to enjoy. Run primarily through volunteers it became a known name very quickly.
Unfortunately after fighting with cancer for just over a year she passed away on the 21st June 2025 leaving behind husband Andy and son Noah.
Noah plans to carry on his mums legacy and run Edible Bristol and with that start a new project in her honour - The Sara Venn Project.
The Sara Venn Project will run firstly from Edible Bristols speedwell site and solely produce fresh fruit and vegetables to a food bank at the haven at speedwell. Sara’s passion was food and making people food secure and this will ensure that 40 families (over 150 people!) will see fresh seasonal food at a time they probably need it most!
This money will get everything started for the next growing season and will keep the site going until next year AND enable the replacement all of our rotting beds!
