Yesterday, we suddenly and unexpectedly lost our dear friend Mike Santos while he was out on a cycling route. He was only 48. He leaves behind a wife and 3 kids.

The Santos Family are dear friends, part of our doodle community, and truly, they are the backbone to our Darby Park Doodles Team. Mikes wife, Heather Santos, is my right hand gal. She’s not only my friend, but my assistant at Darby Park. Her family plays an integral role as well. They are my behind the scenes crew for everything puppies, and anytime I’m away from home, they come stay with my fur kids.
Mike had a huge heart, and deep love for his family and fur babies. He was an amazing father, husband, and friend. He was to celebrate his 25th wedding anniversary with Heather this September. His passing has devastated his family and friends. Please help me in supporting Heather and her kids, Mikey Jr., Brooklyn, and Lacey, during this difficult time. I would like to raise funds for their family, as they are truly in crises.

Before this tragic accident, Heather has been playing the role of a full time home hospice nurse to her father the last few months. This is in Hayward, far away from her home and family in Discovery Bay. Her love of family knows no boundaries. I can also tell you her love of friends, and strangers alike, is the same. To know her is to know she’s a guardian angel to many. Please, let’s be their guardian angels now. Their family was already suffering a financial strain, and sadly this tragedy will only make things far more difficult for Heather and the kids.
