Terrible Fire - The Santoro Family needs your help

As many of you know, my daughter Anne and her husband David have been pursuing a big dream. They purchased a beautiful but wild piece of raw land (10 acres!) about 7 years ago now, and David, a builder, has been building thier dream home there, by hand, in between jobs and on nights and weekends. This project has truly been a labor of love, as they are by no means wealthy. They completed the main structure of thier home a few years ago, installed all the windows, roofed and sided it, and have been saving money and picking away at completing it one project at a time.   Since they began this project, every last cent they earned has gone towards completing the house. No vacations, no extras, just hard work and a goal they felt was worth it. They really have put every last bit of themselves into it.  The past year or so has been really tough for Anne and Dave, as the industry they work in has been in near constant flux economically. They have struggled a lot, and found themselves questioning if they could keep going..... but they always persevered and kept on plugging away towards that end goal.... by the beginning of November this year, despite thier financial situation, 80% of thier home was completed. Rough electrical and plumbing were done, beautiful custom built kitchen cabinets were complete, and a massive hand built stone fireplace was installed. I could not have been prouder of my daughter and her husband, or happier for them.  The point of all this backstory is to give context to the tradgedy that struck this past Monday. Words cant express the heaviness I felt in my heart when Anne called me crying to tell me somehow the house had caught fire overnight. And due to the remote location, by the time firefighters were alerted to black smoke coming from the area, and discovered the source of the fire was thier home, the structure was completely engulfed in flames. By the time Anne and Dave were contacted, their home, thier dream, thier life’s work not to mention life savings, and every single one of David’s tools, were gone. The house had burned to the ground. The state fire Marshall in Rhode Island has been unable to definitively determine the cause of the fire. However, two other homes within a few miles of them also had fires that night. Both of those fires were caused by lightning strikes, as a severe thunder storm had occurred in the area that night.  Lightning strikes! In the blink of an eye, their dream was gone. We are asking for your help in any amount great or small to help Anne and her family pick up the pieces. Since the house was still in the construction phase, they were not yet carrying insurance on it, so they are left with no assistance cleaning up a massive pile of ash and rubble. They are devastated, broke, and broken. Lets rally around them and help them rebuild, perhaps not physically yet, but emotionally. They haven’t even begun to think about where to go from here...... But if I know one thing, it’s that having the support of the people who love them is the only thing that will get them through this difficult time, so that a next chapter becomes a possibility. Thank you all. Jeanne
