The Sanctuary of Hope: Life farm animals deserve

Tax deductible

You can make a difference by donating today to The Sanctuary of Hope INC.

Welcome to The Sanctuary of Hope, a nonprofit farm animal sanctuary and rescue located in Hope, Rhode Island. We provide a forever home to animals rescued from life-threatening situations and give them a second chance at life. Our sanctuary is home to over 70 goats, 2 ponies, 2 horses, 1 donkey, 1 miniature horse, 2 ducks, and a goose, all of whom are members of our sanctuary family. We are proud to have rescued numerous animals, including goats such as Voltaire, Holly, Liberty, Storm, Brooke, and her kids Rumple and Ziggy, as well as mini pigs, a donkey, and a mini horse.

However, due to the economy, our operating costs have increased significantly for hay, grain, and veterinary expenses, including Alice the goat who needed a mastectomy resulting from an injury to her udder that did not heal properly, and Agent Jay the goat who needed to have a biopsy done for a thymoma and will most likely need surgery to remove it. We need to pay for their veterinary expenses, among others, to continue providing the necessary level of care for the increasing number of rescue animals.

Your donation can help ensure that all of our animals, including those with medical issues like meningeal worm, ear infections, torn ACLs, and other conditions, receive the best possible care and continue to live happy, healthy lives. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization, and your donations are fully tax deductible.

At The Sanctuary of Hope, we believe that every animal deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and love, regardless of their past. We provide a forever home to these gentle beings, where they can heal both physically and emotionally, and live out their lives in peace and happiness. Red the mini horse and Liberty the goat are just two examples of the amazing animals that call The Sanctuary of Hope their home.

Red a mini horse came to live at The Sanctuary of Hope when he was 10 yrs old. He originally was trained in Amish country to pull a cart. He was then brought to Rhode Island and found himself in a dangerous and neglectful situation, and was in desperate need of love and care. Thanks to the dedicated staff and volunteers at The Sanctuary of Hope, Red has been able to heal, both physically and emotionally, and is now a happy and thriving member of our sanctuary family.

Liberty the goat is another shining example of the amazing animals that call The Sanctuary of Hope their home. When she was just four months old, she escaped the slaughter and found her forever home on The Goat Coach, a bus that travels around Rhode Island with her friend Holly and ten other goats and their human, Wayne. Liberty is now thriving at The Sanctuary of Hope, where she can live out her life in peace and happiness.

In addition to their land-clearing and invasive plant species control duties, the goat-scaping crews at The Sanctuary of Hope also prioritize educating the public about the incredible abilities of goats and the work they do at the sanctuary. The sanctuary also employs two Goat Teams, who roam throughout Rhode Island, removing invasive species like Japanese Knotweed, Oriental Bittersweet, and multiflora rose while clearing land. Moreover, all proceeds generated from these operations are dedicated to purchasing food and grain for the animals at The Sanctuary of Hope, covering half of the sanctuary expenses. We are relying on generous supporters to fill the gap so we can continue to provide the daily care needed for our Farmily.

Storm, one of our goats was rescued from a factory farm where he was severely neglected. With the love and care he received at The Sanctuary of Hope, he's now able to live a healthy life and travels around Rhode Island clearing invasive plants with other goats. He's even part of Goat Team 2!

In addition to caring for animals with physical disabilities, we also provide long-term care for those with chronic illnesses. Our animals are not just survivors, they are thrivers, and we are proud to give them a second chance at life. We believe that everyone deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life, no matter their challenges. Adeline, one of our amazing goats, unfortunately, contracted meningeal worm this fall. Thanks to the love and care she received at The Sanctuary of Hope, she's able to walk and play, though be it in a limited capacity. We have several goats with physical disabilities who are thriving at our sanctuary.

Tina, Lola, Bill, Kevin, and Richie are some of our residents who were simply displaced by a change in their human's life circumstances. They are now roommates aboard "Minnie's Goat Coach," home of Goat Team 1.

Our sanctuary was born over a dozen years ago as a home for refuge, peace, and love for our rescued goats, horses, and ponies, as well as other animals in need. Our rescue farmily thrives by having a safe place to live, and our goat-scaping program allows them to contribute to the sustainability and protection of their and our environment. Each of our animals lives their full life as part of our community, and we care for them for their entire life.
