Hi, my name is Jeff. I am raising funds to help the Safari family get back into a home for Christmas.
The Safari's are a family of 10 refuges living in Windsor Ontario. The family has had a long and difficult journey coming to Canada 3 years ago in 2022. Their story starts in their birth country of the DRC, the Democratic Republic of Congo. Times in the DRC were not pleasant due to political issues and they started their move to find a safe home in 2007. They lived in a refugee camp in Uganda for 15 years, where many of the family were born, before being able to immigrate to Canada in 2022. They found a welcoming home in Windsor Ontario and a loving congregational family there. Things were going well as they learned english, the father worked at a food processing company, children attended school settling into Canadian life. The father, Bahati, was recently laid off due to the slowing economy. Still happy, the family carried on until November 18 when tragedy struck and the home they lived in had a fire. The family is no longer able to live in the home as the kitchen fire made the home unliveable. Friends and the Red Cross have helped and the family remains happy and thankful. However the Safari's are now currently living in a shelter until they can find a new home and get their furniture and clothing cleaned from the smoke damage.
Taking care of a family of 10, with 5 younger ones in a one room shelter is appreciated, but not the best for them. Together we can help by contributing towards the fund to get the Safari family back into a home and back into daily life and work.
For this to happen before Christmas would be a wonderful gift and I am sure a blessing for all who make this dream come to life.
Thank you for hearing the story of the Safari's and for any help that is moved in your heart to contribute. All funds will go directly into their account.
Wishing you a Blessed Advent, Jeff W
