The Rylee and Ryker Fund

This past Summer Caitlin and Ryan got the unexpected news that they were pregnant, again. Like any couple, they were nervous and excited to welcome a new baby into their family of 4. Shortly after, they were given the news that they were having twins! Caitlin's pregnancy progressed with little to no complications. The family began preparing the babies nurseries, telling their daughters' that they were going to be big sister's, and even began planning a baby shower. 

About a month ago Caitlin began experiencing complications with her pregnancy. She was put on strict orders from the doctor to reduce physical activities. Ryan  was forced to take time off of work to care for Caitlin and their children. Ryan was informed at this point, that his employer does not participate in Family Leave and Ryan will have to take the time unpaid. 

On December 29, 2020, at 26 weeks, Caitlin and Ryan welcomed Ryker Ashton Walker (2lb 1.5oz 33cm) and Rylee Ann Walker (2lbs 2.2 oz) into the world. 

Today 12/31/2020 they have to leave their precious children.  Today they begin the long journey of traveling over 100 miles a day to see their babies for the next 4 months. 

Between costly hospital costs, Ryan being on an unpaid leave, and the travel costs to see their children, Caitlin and Ryan are struggling to make ends meet. 

No parent should ever have to leave their newborn child and I cannot imagine the pain their family must be going through. 

Caitlin and Ryan are both active members of their community and have contributed so much to society. Caitlin is a local girl scout leader and volunteer soccer couch. She has worked in Human Services and Social Work locally for almost a decade and Ryan is a public service worker.
