Last year, I lost my close friend Tom to cystic fibrosis. He was an incredible person who faced this illness with courage, strength, and kindness, even when things were unimaginably difficult. Watching what he went through, and the impact it had on those who loved him, has stayed with me every day.
I am taking on an Ironman event in Thomas’s memory, pushing myself physically and mentally to honour the strength he showed throughout his life. This fundraiser is in support of the vital work being done to improve care, treatment, and outcomes for people living with cystic fibrosis. By doing this challenge in his name, I hope to raise awareness and help make a real difference for others facing this condition.
The race consists of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a full marathon to the finish line. Training is already underway with around 12-17hrs per week for the next 7 months.
