Ladies and gentlemen, friends and family, it is my pleasure to announce the one and only Royal American Henley. For generations, the Cornell Heavyweight Rowing Team has carried on this tradition: an afternoon of libations, camaraderie, and jubilation at The Knoll. Now, we all know the Brits have their “Henley Royal Whatever,” and the Canadians have their version too. But this is America—and in America, we do things bigger, better, faster, stronger. Thus, the BMA boys have taken the concept in stride, trading the Thames for Cayuga Lake and Pimms for champagne towers, cigars, and a good old-fashioned tomfoolery. The Royal American Henley has become a rite of passage for generations of Cornell rowers—a day where tradition meets celebration, where alumni and athletes alike gather to honor the grind on the water with an equally legendary showing off it. This year, we want to make Henley the best it’s ever been: more champagne, better accommodations, and a setup worthy of the legacy. To make that happen, we need your support.
