THE MISSION
We all have distances in our lives that we need to find a way across. There are things that feel impossible and relentless. There are places in our minds where we have no control, tides that change, storms that sneak up on us, and distances we must commit to that seem unimaginable.
It is in the spirit of this magnitude that I am taking on this challenge, as an advocate of those whose minds and bodies take them and their families down paths of unrest or addiction. Seeking mercy for our collective journey, resilience in the wake of challenges, respect for the world around us, and education for the path ahead.

The barrier islands of Ocean County NJ face the Atlantic Ocean on 1 side and the Barnegat Bay on the other. The complete orbit of these barrier islands is approximately 60 miles. Thomas Ascough (and his volunteer adventurers and fellow fundraisers) will circle one of these islands each Tuesday, beginning in October and ending the last week in 2021.
THE SPECIFICS OF THE FUNDING
The goal of our collective mission (with HOPE SHEDS LIGHT & The Ocean County College Foundation) is to raise $25000 as a global community and designate scholarships to people tackling addiction (and their family members) to forge a future in education.
