The Rosa James Foundation
The Family of Rosa James is in the process of establishing The Rosa James Foundation for Education, to receive contributions for educational advancement. Rosa taught others how to break through and excel when facing overwhelming obstacles. The Rosa James Foundation will continue her legacy of helping students achieve their educational goals. (FYI, the “maintenance tip” is optional. Select tip amount, or select “Other + 0” for no tip).
This Go Fund Me page has been created to begin accepting donations in lieu of flowers and gifts for contribution to The Rosa James Foundation for Education. Every dollar contributed will go to the foundation and will be distributed to qualifying recipients.
Rosa James was described by The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as, “A Pioneer who fought for the educational and emotional needs of children”. For over six decades, Rosa was an advocate for education, social justice, and voters’ rights. She enhanced the lives of young children for 36 years as a reading specialist with The Kansas City Public School District. Rosa helped develop and staff, a community-volunteer phone bank designed to connect with high school dropouts and help them acquire a school diploma and/or high school equivalency certification.
Rosa received many appointments, although prestigious for some, these positions highlighted
her passion for helping others. She was appointed by the Governor of Missouri to the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners. Rosa was selected for the Kansas City Municipal Judicial Nominating Commission, and she was a recipient of the distinguished “Kansas City Spirit and NAACP Presidents Awards”.
Rosa was such a force in the community with her charm, grace, wit, and knowledge, she left an everlasting impression on everyone that had the pleasure of knowing and working with her.
On July 21, 2020, at the age of 86, Rosa completed “her leg of the race” as educator, choir director, advocate, and social rights warrior. In her later years she competed as a professional bridge player, but now has passed the baton to others and is resting in the presence of our Lord and Savior.
Rest well our beloved Mom.
Thank you in advance for your contribution.
Sincerely
The Family of Rosa James
