Hey friends, John here.
As many of you know, we had to close this week to deal with some major plumbing issues. And while we avoided the worst case scenario in terms of repair costs, closing and losing a week’s worth of business hit us pretty hard, and to be honest, this couldn’t have come at a worse time.
I opened the Roguelike in the middle of the pandemic, after our original opening date of March 15th, 2020 literally became the day that everything shut down. Since then we’ve weathered an extended closure, multiple strikes that have hit our Burbank friends disproportionately hard, production shutdowns, wildfires, and most recently the devastating effects that the ICE raids have had on the whole city. We’re doing our best and I honestly marvel at the wonderful things that have happened at this bar, but truthfully, we’ve never not been playing catch-up, and this past week puts us even further behind.
As such, I’m asking for your help in creating a Roguelike Tavern “recovery fund” to help us get off our back foot and into a place of strength as we head into the upcoming holiday seasons. I’m hoping to compensate our staff for lost income, pay off the expenses incurred by the repairs & subsequent closure, and accrue an emergency cushion that will allow us to keep our heads above water the next time the unexpected happens, which, honestly, I’m surprised hasn’t happened as I'm typing this.
There has been no greater joy in my life than being a part of the community of customers, collaborators and friends that has coalesced around the Roguelike, and I humbly ask you to help us find our footing again and keep that community alive.
