The Rodney Grant New Liver Medical Fund

“I’m not ready to call it quits, but this process has been the hardest thing I’ve ever been though.”

Rodney Grant is a loving husband, Dad, Papa, Son, and cherished friend to many. He’s the guy you go to for help in a variety of ways. From operating the sound equipment at church, or working on a car, to helping with a vinyl siding project. He’s the man for the job. Rodney doesn’t shy away from hard work. Neither does his dedicated wife. But things have changed for The Grant’s.

As you may know, 1 out of 3 GoFundMe accounts are centered around medical bills or chronic illness and many insurances just don’t cut it in these critical times. Rodney is not the type of person to ask for help. He chooses to trust God to meet the needs of his family. But, after years of dealing with brittle diabetes, endless doctor appointments, and hereditary cirrhosis of the liver (his mom and brother both passed away from this SAME autoimmune illness) Rodney has officially been placed on the liver transplant list at Duke Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Transplant costs and living costs for food and travel over the next five to six months will add up fast. Rodney actually goes this week for his initial transplant consultation. After the prior months of self-isolating and social distancing to stay safe, Rodney is looking forward to getting out of the house a little. Even though it’s to see more doctors. More scans. More blood work. He looks on the bright side, that’s for sure.
