Hey everyone... Setting up this campaign has been one of the toughest things we have ever had to do...
As some of you know, Jason was involved in a very serious motorcycle accident on Father's Day night, Sunday, June 20th. He suffered very serious injuries and is going to be on the shelf for quite some time. His right leg was broken from his femur to his ankle. His spleen was ruptured and he suffered several broken ribs. He also suffered some swelling to his brain.
First and foremost I can only say how grateful we are that he survived. Jason was in the ICU for the first 10 days after the wreck and then at a rehab facility for another 7 nights. Thankfully he was able to go home on July 7 and is now recuperating there. He has a very long road ahead of him and that is why we have decided to put this campaign together.
This unexpected incident was a shock to us all. Jason is husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He is special to us all in one way or another. If you know Rock, you know he has the certain something that draws you in (one way or another). Jason's wife Krista has been at his side since that horrible night. Day in and day out she has been a rock for us all, but especially for their daughter Anna. The entire family is working together to get through this most difficult time.
The next several months are going to be filled with ups and downs, pain, hard work and therapy, healing, and lots and lots sweat and tears. Jason will not be able to work for some time and Krista will have to split time between work and home. Time is going to be very, very short. There are going to be many unexpected medical expenses and needs that the family cannot even imagine right now.
***This is why we have decided to put this campaign together. To help fund those unexpected and unforeseen expenses of this journey. To ease the burden on the Rockwell family. To utilize the generous donations and give the family some extra time together. To take some of the worry off of their plate.***
Jason has been a dedicated member of the the Pima County Sheriff's Department for over 20 years. He is currently the Pima Regional Bomb Squad Commander, which encompasses several partner agencies in and around Tucson. Jason has previously served as a member of the Pima Regional SWAT Team for over a decade. His dedicated time within the Sheriff's Department has also included time as a patrol sergeant, patrol deputy, and many years assigned to the training unit. He is one of the most dedicated members of the PCSD family.
Jason is also very active outside of work. His love of the outdoors, his passion for music, even the time just chilling in his backyard; all of this is going to be put on hold. Not many of us can imagine the tough time ahead and the road to recovery.
Right now Jason cannot walk. His mobility is basically none. He is limited by a wheel chair and walker. The pain is quite intense and nearly constant. He has multiple rods and screws throughout his right leg. All of these things present very unique challenges for the entire family. Challenges that will be conquered over time, but it will take time.
With donations from all of us, we can make this challenging time a little bit easier for the Rockwell family. No matter how big or how small, even if it is just a message of support, nothing will be taken for granted.
Thank you all for your love and support. We will keep you updated on Jason's progress.
