The Roberson Family IVF Journey
Donation protected
Hi, We are Kevin and Melanie Roberson. Our story began 11 years ago (2010) at Longwood University as a freshman and sophomore in college. It is still hard to believe 2010 was 11 years ago! But anyway, we began our love story on campus building a life together. Graduated college, moved in together, started navigating the ever complicated adult world and seeing what life had to offer. Once married in 2018 we both knew starting a family was important to us and so began our journey to Baby Roberson.
A little about our journey:
Beginning in 2018 we were filled with joy and excitement at the possibility of seeing those two pink lines. The possibility of a little one running around and the family traditions we would create. Unfortunately as each month passed us by the excitement turned into worry and heartache. After a year of trying naturally with no success we decided to begin the search for answers. Over the last 3.5 years we have undergone multiple rounds of testing, 6 medicated cycles and 3 IUI's (intrauterine insemination's) with no success.
Our journey has been filled with many ups and downs. Infertility is hard and tests not only you, but your relationships as well. Even with all of the heartache we have not given up. Our dream to be parents to a beautiful baby is still strong and we want to do all we can to make this dream a reality. Unfortunately infertility treatments are not covered by insurance and up until this point we have paid out of pocket.
Asking for help does not come easy to Kevin and I. We both pride ourselves on being independent and hard-working people. They say it takes a village to raise to child and we are hoping our village can start here. One round of IVF can cost up to $20,000. We have chosen to participate in our clinics Guarantee Program which includes up to 6 rounds of IVF to live birth plus the cost of medications, anesthesia, cryopreservation and storage per round. Our first round will cost us $30,000.
We are scheduled to start IVF stims November 26th and are so excited for this opportunity. The ability to do IVF gives us the hope we need to keep fighting this battle. While IVF is not a guarantee, we are hopeful this will be the opportunity that helps us get one step closer to bringing home Baby Roberson.
After much thought and consideration we have decided to share our story and ask for help from our village with this GoFundMe. The last few years have not been easy. They have challenged us in ways we never expected but I know with the support of our village we can get through this struggle.
Kevin and I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read a little snap shot of our story. If anything we are happy to help spread awareness to infertility and some of the challenges. If you are unable to support in this way, we ask that you kindly share our story and help spread awareness to infertility. We are beyond humbled and grateful for any support received no matter how big or small.
Hopefully in the coming months we will be able to announce the official expansion of the Roberson family!
All funds received will be going towards the cost of the IVF procedures, medications, cryopreservation, storage and any additional tests needed (such as bloodwork and ultrasounds).
