The Road to Steavy's Recovery

Dear Friends and Family,

I am Teneale Picouye, and have been apart of the Gahizi family for 8 years.

We wanted to update you on Steavy Gahizi, who was admitted to the hospital on September 8th. Steavy arrived at the hospital with severe shortness of breath, fatigue, and weakness. After thorough examination, it was determined that he had pneumonia, which rapidly worsened and began affecting his heart. He was subsequently moved to the ICU, sedated, and placed on a ventilator.

Steavy’s mother, Gloriose, has flown to Ottawa to be by his side during this critical time. While Steavy's oxygen levels are showing some improvement, he remains heavily sedated. Tests and biopsies are underway to better understand his condition.

The road to recovery is expected to be long, and both Steavy and Gloriose will need to take time off work as they focus on his healing. This situation brings a significant financial burden, and we have created a GoFundMe to help alleviate some of this stress and support the family during this difficult period.
