The road to recovery for Raúl Sánchez

On February 2, 2021, Raul suffered an accident while at work where he was run over by a plow truck. He was rushed to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY where he was admitted in critical condition. Raul suffered multiple injuries including internal bleeding, numerous blood clots on his right leg, and an open pelvic fracture. He is currently in the ICU in an induced coma. While at the hospital, Raul also suffered a heart attack. Unfortunately, due to the extent of injury to his right leg, it was amputated.
Raul is a young, friendly, loving and caring human being. He is an amazing husband and loving father to his 9 year old daughter Abigail and 21 year old daughter Genesis who is a person with intellectual/developmental disability. Raul has an immense heart and is always willing to provide help to others.
Right now, doctors are doing all they can to ensure the best possible outcome for Raul given the severity of his injuries. He has already undergone many surgeries and procedures including losing part of his right leg. We know that Raul is a strong and courageous man that will succeed in his recovery. But, given the injuries he has sustained, the road to recovery will be uncertain and long. Raul will require continued hospitalization, several surgeries, rehabilitation, medical equipment, and support. With Raul's injuries there are many unknowns including those related to medical expenses and the unknown of returning to work due to temporary or permanent disabilities.
Raul's life and of his wife and daughters will never be the same. This campaign has been created to help his family through this difficult time as Raul recovers. We believe that Raul will have a successful recovery and will be resilient as he manages the challenges that may arise during his journey and adjust to life changes. As his family, we are grateful and moved by the outpouring of support from friends, neighbors and the greater community at large. We feel loved and supported.
