Hello Friends and Family,
I am Jen Picken. For those of you who dont know me, I went to college with Amanda and we have been inseparable for approximately 12 years. In fact, we are so inseparable that we currently work at the same facility! Within the past 12 years, Amanda and I have been through all the major milestones of life together including falling in love, marriages, the birth of our children, etc. Through those milestones, we have learned that life is a journey that takes us to places we either love, hate or wish for a different outcome. And well, here we are today.. wishing for a different outcome from an unfortunate and significant milestone.
Amanda's husband, Jesse DeCobra is determined, dedicated to his values and he works extremely hard to help provide for his family and works sometimes over 80 hours a week. When he is not working, he is spending time with his wife (Amanda) and kids, Jesse Jr.(16), Makenzie(10), and Jalen(2).
On Sunday, June 9th, the lives of this family completely changed. Jesse adjusted the mirrors on his motorcycle and was going to go down the road a couple houses and come back to make sure they were in the correct spots. Being in a residential neighborhood and only planning on driving down a couple houses and coming back, Jesse wasn’t driving fast and also didn’t grab his helmet like he normally did. Being an experienced and cautious driver is something that Jesse took pride in.
A loud noise and a crash alerted Amanda that something was wrong. She ran down the road to find that there had been an accident with a cause that is currently unknown. Jesse had to be airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital where he had to be intubated, sedated, and undergo a risky and potentially life-threatening surgery to save him. During the crash Jesse suffered massive head trauma and fractures to his skull. Surgery included a decompressive craniectomy to remove a large section of the right side of his skull to allow for swelling of the brain and fix any other fractured pieces of his skull during the surgery. In addition to that, he has multiple bruises, contusions, and scrapes covering his entire body. He has been making great strides but is not fully conscious yet.
Since the accident, Jesse has been under the excellent care of ICU nurses trying to help him recover. There have been other surgeries performed and there still is an exceedingly long road ahead for recovery for Jesse including other hospitalizations, physical therapy, and much more.
Amanda has been spending all of her time at the hospital making difficult medical decisions, comforting, and being an advocate and caregiver for Jesse.
The donations gathered will be used for things such as medical bills, gas, food, incoming bills, and so much more.
Thank you in advance for visiting the page and for your love, prayers, donations and support during this extremely difficult time.
Respectfully,
Jen Picken
