The Riverhawks Memorial Scholarship

Premiere Mortgage Centre in Walkerton is devasted with the news of the Walkerton District Community School tragedy. For anyone who hasn’t heard (although we're sure most have), four local student athletes from WDCS and their coach/teacher were in a car accident on the way home from a sporting event on Friday, May 23rd, 2025. Sadly, all five lives were taken in the accident. As you can imagine, this tragedy is devastating to our tight-knit community. Our hearts go out to the families, fellow students and teachers, as well as our community in this difficult time.

Nothing can bring them back, but we can try to band together to bring light from this very dark and heartbreaking time. We have seen some GoFundMe’s and other fundraisers to help the families with time off from work and for funeral expenses, but we wanted to create something a little different to help honour the lives lost.

We have decided to donate $1,500 and put together a GoFundMe to raise additional funds to go towards five Academic/Athletic Scholarships for WDCS Students. We're calling it The Riverhawks Memorial Scholarship. The funds will be divided equally in the names of the five victims. Once the funds are raised, they will be disbursed to the families, with help of WDCS, so that the families can award the Scholarships in memoriam and honour of their loved one to five students at WDCS.
