Help Print The River Magazine
PLEASE NOTE: We are still accepting donations even though we are not able to create an in print version of the magazine during the stay at home orders. We are in the process of determining if it will be possible to create a virtual way to share the literary and artistic talents of Peterborough's low income creative people. And we will still need to keep fundraising for the time when we are able to make a print issue again.
Please consider a donation today. Every little bit helps put the spark in someone's creative work.
Living on a low income takes perseverance, ingenuity and determination just to keep a roof overhead and food in the cupboard. There usually isn’t enough time, money or energy left to follow up on creative ideas and projects.
The River Magazine gives people living on a low income a publication to showcase their writing, art and ideas.
The River Magazine is a volunteer run project. The only expense for the magazine is the printing of each issue. So every dollar donated will go directly to printing the magazine and paying contributors. Almost 50% of the budget goes to paying contributors for their work. Each contributor is paid $40 for their accepted submission.

Imagine someone living on a low income being PAID for their creative work!
The first issue was printed in December of 2017 and our fifth issue was released in spring of 2020. Each issue costs $4500 to print as a quality publication. This campaign will provide The River Magazine most of the printing costs and contributors' fees for this issue and possibly the next. We have been sourcing funding from other organizations such as the United Way, but your contributions will help ensure the continued success of the magazine.
Your donation is an excellent indication of support and encouragement both for the board and for the contributors who face financial challenges and are not often given opportunities to be heard.

If you are interested in helping this unique and creative venue for Peterborough’s low income community, please consider donating $5, $10 or more.
As anyone who lives on a low income knows - every little bit helps.
Your donation will give someone who may be struggling with the daily grind of making ends meet an opportunity to feel that their thoughts, feelings and expressions are valued and interesting to all of us.
