Right To Grow - National Awareness Campaign Fund

The UK cannabis campaign for the right to grow needs your support

With an ever-growing number of countries around the world having the right to cultivate their own cannabis, it is becoming increasingly hypocritical for the UK government to force its citizens to break the law while licencing only one pharmaceutical company to grow for medicinal use – and as the world’s biggest exporter, no less.

UK Cannabis Social Clubs want to plan and orchestrate a national awareness campaign to deliver a strong message to the public about the need for wider cannabis reforms.

Wider reforms include:
- The right to grow at home
- The right to share cannabis you have grown at home with other adults
- Not having your children taken off you if you are a parent that uses cannabis
- Not being drug tested for cannabis as part of employment
- Not being disqualified from driving for being a cannabis consumer
- Criminal records for non-violent cannabis offences expunged
- Legal assembly of people to socially and communally share cannabis
- The ability to run a cannabis business without needing a Home Office licence
- Consumer rights are protected (See our full list of demands on our site here: https://ukcsc.co.uk/cannabis-prohibition-isnt-over-until-these-demands-are-met/)

How will we get our message out there?
A serious public media campaign is needed to change the perception of cannabis growers to break through the rhetoric that is persistently published by the mainstream media. We also need to get people well known to the public talking about it as this is who they already trust.

This campaign will take place in the form of a stream of:
- Billboard campaigns
- National mainstream newspaper spreads
- Targeted messaging
- Getting spokespeople on TV and radio
- Hosting local and regional seminars
- Lobbying MP's, charities and other NGO's for strong support
- A national conference to present issues, arguments and the communities campaign messages.

This isn't something we can do completely alone. We need to recruit the help of some professionals that can make this process much easier for us.

UK Cannabis Social Clubs have plans to have a parliamentary launch for a policy manifesto we have been working on. It is our intention to start making the news around cannabis on a national level – not just commenting on stories that are going on around us.

This month we have seen the police ramp up their own campaign to encourage people to grass on their neighbours for growing cannabis. This is wrong when so many people are growing their own for medicine. We need to retaliate.  It has to be persistent and consistent if we want to hit the mark. This is what it will take to be the effective campaign organisation cannabis consumers need to achieve the reforms our movement is aiming for.

Rather than just 1% of cannabis consumers benefiting from policy reform, as is the case with medical cannabis, UK citizens deserve a cannabis policy that minimises the risks of an unregulated cannabis market under a policy of prohibition. Everyone in society is negatively impacted by a bad policy, not just the people that want or need to consume which is why we need across the board decriminalisation now.

To receive support in the form of financial backing from our supporters would mean we know we are fighting for the people and in a way that they believe in. At a time when so much money is being waved around by commercial cannabis companies cashing in on medical cannabis before the problems of prohibition have been resolved, we need to stand up and unite as a community, and as a consumer group that demands better rights and standards for the people and products that we want legalised.

With funds raised we would plan to host more regional and local cannabis seminars and conferences to give more members of the community and the public the opportunity to engage with the campaign and get the message heard in towns and cities across all four nations of the UK. This is not just an issue that needs fighting in Westminster, it is a policy that needs debating all over the UK. If enough people can spare some change or a solid donation towards the UKCSC's national cannabis campaign war chest, we can really ramp up the attack against those who seek to oppress us for our interaction with the cannabis plant.

None of this is going to be easy, but we have some incredibly dedicated campaigners within our team at the UKCSC who have been volunteering in some cases for up to 8 years. By adding some more experienced players to our team we think we can start to make a bigger difference. There has never been a better time to get involved or push our campaign message out to the mainstream than now.
