A Prosthesis for Ricky: Give Ricky the Gift of Mobility
Hi, my name is Anthony (Tony) waterman. I live in Ottawa, Canada, but Barbados is home—I return every year to reconnect with family, friends, and my roots.
About three years ago, my childhood friend Ricky lost his right leg to complications from diabetes. His surgeon assured him that if his recovery went well, he would qualify for a prosthesis. He’s been attending rehab consistently and his stump has healed.
Despite his progress, Ricky still hasn’t received the prosthesis he needs to walk again. Without it, he spends his days in a wheelchair unable to enjoy the activities he once enjoyed, watching life pass by as his mental and physical health decline.
We have tried every official channel, spoken to medical leaders, and exhausted all options. Now, I’m turning to you—Barbadians at home and abroad—to help me get Ricky the prosthesis that will restore his independence and dignity.
Your support will help Ricky return to his joinery workshop, rebuild his life, and contribute to his community again. Every dollar brings us closer to giving him back what he’s lost.
Please donate and share this appeal. together, we can make this happen.
