Stevie struggles to support their sister’s gender reveal party, while harbouring a gender update of their own. This charming short comedy pulls back the curtain on gender performance of all varieties, and shines a whimsical light on the stumbling, imperfect, yet loving ways families show up for one another.
Hello! My name is Jackie Hoffart and I'm the writer and director of the comedy short film "The Reveal"—a story of a non-binary comedian who uses the gender reveal party for their sister’s baby as the opportunity to tell their family that they are transitioning.
The project was selected by prestigious Vancouver-based organization Crazy8s, to receive critical seed funding and in-kind production support. The production completed principal photography in March 2025 in Vancouver, Canada.
We are raising funds to support post-production costs, marketing and promotion costs, as well as costs associated with submitting the film for local, national, and international festivals.
Every donation is a huge help–whether it's $50 or $500—we are tremendously grateful for your support. We believe it’s more important than ever for trans people to share trans stories that are positive, affirming, and full of love.
Here’s how your support will help us:
$50 | helps us pay submission fees to a national festival
$100 | helps pay submission fees to an international festival
$250 | helps us pay for marketing & PR support
$500 | helps us pay for post-production costs like closed captioning
All supporters will receive private access to view the film before its broader release. If you have any questions, or would like to discuss other ways you can get involved, please reach out! We also really appreciate you sharing this page on socials as a way to help us spread the word! Thank you so much!
Thank you for helping trans people tell trans stories!
