Hi, my name is Lisa. I am writing this on behalf of our family. We have had the most traumatic time when our beautiful Mum, Wife, Grandmother (Gigi) died in the most tragic of circumstances.
Mum and Dad had been in Spain since the middle of August in their beloved home from home. They had had a lovely day out and were having a meal in a local restaurant. Mum choked on a piece of steak and quickly lost consciousness. So many people tried to help her. The paramedics were there in 5 or so minutes. They eventually got the food out but she had just been starved of oxygen for too long. She was pronounced brain dead at the hospital.
Mum & Dad had no insurance.
My sister and I were on the next plane out to Spain. Through heartbreak and confusion we in Spain and family in the UK tried to navigate the process to get her home. That in itself was so difficult but then there was the added worry of financing this unexpected tragic situation we found ourselves in. I found The Repatriation Services Trust online who offered assistance for residents of Wales. We reached out to Steve, he was so kind and the Trust generously offered financial support to ease our burden. This allowed us to concentrate on getting Mum home.
Steve has his own story which can be read on their website. He and his family were sadly thrown into the repatriation process when they had to bring their son home. This spurred them to start this charity to help others and ease the financial worry at such a painful time. The money raised for The Repatriation Trust will be used by Steve and his family to help others who find themselves in the same situation if a family member from Wales dies abroad and needs to be brought back home. It is difficult to put into words how much their support meant to us all and we want to help them continue in their selfless quest.
