The Renkel Family Needs Our Help!

UPDATE: May 2024
Sadly, as many of you already know, Ron passed away peacefully on May 1, 2024. We already miss him and his big personality that always made everyone feel welcome and happy. Being his friend was a true honor and we are all blessed to have had him in our lives.
As you can imagine, Ron’s passing has been extraordinarily difficult for his family, especially Rachel and Hunter. Rachel has been supporting her family for the past several years while Ron was ill. In addition to working, she also took incredible care of both Ron and Hunter. In the past few months, Rachel was compelled to take leave from work to care for Ron. The expenses of caring for Ron while managing a household is beyond what anyone should have to worry about, especially at a time like that. It is also heartbreaking that Ron will miss his son’s high school graduation next month. Hunter was Ron’s greatest pride and joy. We know, however, that Ron will be there watching from above.
Let’s show Rachel and Hunter that we are all here to help them navigate this new chapter with our love and support. Please donate what you can to alleviate some of the financial stress the past few years have caused this beautiful family.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Everyone who knows the Renkel Family knows that they are full of love, laughter, and warmth. They are giving, generous, and always ready to give a helping hand to their family and friends. The time has now come for all of us to step up and help ease the challenges they are presently facing.
The Renkels have been facing incredible obstacles for the past few years, beginning when Ron was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2019, which resulted in kidney failure. This past January, he found out he had neuropathy in his feet. In June, he experienced a lung empyema. Ron also has gangrene on his feet, and although he is being treated, there is no cure for gangrene toes and he will be in a wheelchair until his heels heal and he is strong enough to have surgery.
Over the summer, the family almost lost Ron several times, as his condition became more grave. He was placed under sedation while on a ventilator for weeks while his physicians valiantly worked to improve his health. It is a true miracle that Ron regained consciousness in late August, but having been immobile and on a ventilator for weeks weakened his body. He was sent to a rehabilitation facility in late September where his medical team is optimistic that Ron will be able to go home with his family in a few weeks. However, as Ron is unable to walk at this time, modifications to their home need to be made. Unfortunately, these modifications are not covered by insurance.
The biggest renovations that the Renkels need are to install handicap ramps to the front and side doors and to purchase a handicapped accessible van to transport Ron and from to his medical appointments and dialysis treatments. These costs are, unfortunately, extremely expensive.
These illnesses have, over time, severely limited Ron’s physical abilities and he was forced to take medical leave from his employer, Stop and Shop. Ron has been an incredible team member at work, and misses seeing his coworkers and interacting with the public. Ron’s inability to work has resulted in Rachel continuing to work on a full time basis in order to meet their financial responsibilities.
We are reaching out to everyone who knows and loves Ron, Rachel, and Hunter. Please donate anything you can so the family will be reunited in their home for the holidays. Any amount is greatly appreciated. God bless you all.
